I work with senior executives and non-executive directors to strengthen
the leadership of the organisations for which they are responsible.
Specifically, I help Chairmen and Chairwomen, Boards, CEOs, and other senior executives to:
1. Select the best leaders at times of CEO succession, merger, or other major change - through various types of leadership profiling
2. Develop senior executives - through coaching and other leadership work
3. Increase the effectiveness of Boards - through focused survey and developmental activities
4. More broadly, strengthen the processes by which the organisation attracts, retains, and develops senior leaders - for example through personal development, onboarding programmes, and team development.
I aim to bring a perspective that combines business strategy with insights into what makes for great senior leaders.
This is based on 17 years' experience as a consultant and Partner at McKinsey and Company, 6 years' as a Partner at headhunters Heidrick & Struggles,
and additional experience running my own business.
Earlier in my career I held roles at Accenture and IBM, and more recently have served as a non-Executive Director of the University of Roehampton
for the last 6 years including terms on the Remuneration and Employment Committees.
I graduated MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, and MBA from Stanford GSB; am qualified by the British Psychological Society (Levels A and B);
and have written books on coaching, leadership and motivation that collectively have sold in excess of 250,000 copies in 20 languages.
As Munroist number 5009, I have written in The Call of the Mountains of my thousand-mile journey across Scotland's mountain ranges, and
lecture in schools and elsewhere to encourage others to visit those hills.
